Athletic Club have announced Edin Terzic has agreed to become their new head coach, ending speculation around Andoni Iraola returning to his former club.
Former Borussia Dortmund boss Terzic's contract at Athletic Club will run until the summer of 2028, and he will be presented to the fans at the start of the new season.
Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season, was one of the candidates of interest to Athletic Club, where he spent 12 years as a player.
However, the 43-year-old, on the three-man shortlist to take over as Chelsea head coach, will not be returning to the Basque Country.
Manchester United are searching for a new head coach this summer and speculation has linked Iraola with a move to Old Trafford - but as it stands Michael Carrick is in pole position.
Real Madrid also have a vacancy in the dugout they need to fill with Alvaro Arbeloa's contract set to expire.
'Carrick to be offered permanent role'
Michael Carrick is expected to be offered the chance to continue as Manchester United's head coach after qualifying for the Champions League, according to The Guardian.
Carrick became the first Englishman to win eight of his nine Premier League home games as a manager after leading the club to a 3=2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

It is suggested that the 21-year-old midfielder is expected to leave the east London club this summer, with the Hammers facing relegation.

Fernandes has impressed in his debut season for West Ham, joining the club from Southampton, who were relegated last summer, for a reported 38m fee.

Real Madrid have put Aston Villa boss Unai Emery high on their shortlist to become their next manager, according to talkSPORT.
Emery joined the club as Steven Gerrard's successor in November 2022 and is contracted at Villa Park until the summer of 2029.
