John Stones: Man City defender expected to leave at the end of the season

John Stones is expected to leave Manchester City when his contract expires in June – completing an illustrious 10-year spell at the club.

The England centre-back has won the Champions League, six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three Carabao Cups and a UEFA Super Cup since he signed in 2016 from Everton.

The 31-year-old could yet add two more trophies - another Premier League title and an FA Cup - before he departs as a free agent, as Man City chase a treble-winning season.

after it was announced last week the Portugal forward would be leaving when his contract expires on June 30.

He has spent nine years at the club, joining from Monaco in 2017 - a year after Stones' arrival.

Man City assistant coach Pep Lijnders made a surprise announcement to confirm Silva's rumoured departure earlier in April, saying "every good story comes to an end", and it was further confirmed by the club last week.

Barcelona and Juventus remain among the clubs who want to sign Silva on a free transfer this summer.

Both clubs have been long-term admirers of the Portugal star but they are not the only clubs interested and Silva is not thought to have made a final decision yet on his next club.

The 31-year-old has long been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia or MLS in the United States too.

However, the future of midfielder Rodri remains unresolved. His contract expires in the summer of 2027, but he is a player Man City would prefer to keep and would like to agree a new deal with, Your Site News understands.

At the end of March, the Spain midfielder admitted "you cannot turn down the best clubs in the world" as the prospect of future move to Real Madrid was raised in an interview with Spanish radio.

However, having previously played for city rivals Atletico, it might be somewhat of a controversial move, with Rodri telling Onda Cero: "There are other players who've taken that path.

"Not directly, but over time. You can't turn down the best clubs in the world.

"I would like to return (to LaLiga) yes, of course. For me, LaLiga is where I started. I still follow it, not as much as before, but I still follow it. But right now, I am very happy here (in the Premier League).

"I have one year left on my contract (at City), there will come a point when we'll have to sit down, talk, and discuss things."

Pep Guardiola's future also remains up in the air, and with at least two Man City stalwarts set for imminent exits, it represents another squad evolution for the club.
