Caroline Dubois: Promoter says Katie Taylor fight would be the perfect 'swansong event' for Irish boxer

Caroline Dubois is the ideal final opponent for Katie Taylor, says the British world champion's promoter Nakisa Bidarian.

The Irish boxing legend is yet to confirm her last opponent for her farewell fight, which is expected to be staged Dublin's Croke Park this summer.

Dubois has reiterated her desire to face Taylor after defeating Terri Harper last month and her promotional team believes it is the 'right swansong event' for one of Ireland's sporting greats.

Speaking to Your Site News, Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, said: "We would love for that to happen. I think it makes all the sense in the world

"When I spoke about it a few weeks back in our debut show, I was speaking to the UK audience. I think the UK and Ireland would salivate over such a matchup.

"I believe it is a global fight, but definitely for the UK, for that opportunity for the passing of the torch.

"Tough fight for Caroline, Katie is a tremendous fighter, but I think it is the right swansong event for Taylor at Croke Park against Caroline Dubois."

Dubois floored Harper in a unanimous points win as the unbeaten 25-year-old added the WBO belt to her WBC lightweight title.

Bidarian is now plotting the career path for Dubois, which could lead her on a collision course with American rival Alycia Baumgardner.

"We are actively discussing for her to come back in August," said Bidarian. "There are multiple routes she can take.

"She's been very clear about her desire to fight Alycia Baumgardner. We hope that happens at some point. There are other belts in the division for her to unify.

"She's obviously very young, and she's continuing to improve, and we think she will definitely be one of the main faces of the entire sport over the next few years, and that's why we've partnered with Sky."

Undisputed world super-bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney will now move up a division to pursue new opportunities.

Scotney unified all four of the major world titles at 122lbs with a sensational victory over rival champion Mayelli Flores last month.

Making weight for that fight was hard though. Scotney revealed that she even had to cut her hair at the weigh in for the Flores bout.

In a social media post Scotney said: "I've given four years to 122lbs. Blood, sweat, tears … and yeah even my hair in the final cut.

"But I stayed because I had one mission: leave with every belt.

"One by one, champion to champion, no vacants… No favours."

She added: "I've always said that integrity is everything and I'd like to think I held onto that through it all.

"126lbs awaits."

Up at featherweight Amanda Serrano holds the WBO and WBA world titles, Tiara Brown is the WBC champion and Nina Meinke holds the IBF belt.

Scotney previously told Your Site: "If I could, I'd go straight into another world title fight. I just want a challenge.

"It lights something in me."
